Many different diseases and medical conditions can cause signs and symptoms throughout the oral cavity. Knowing what is normal and what is not is extremely important. In fact, some types of oral anomalies are directly associated with underlying health conditions that may have yet to be diagnosed.

Oral cancer is an extremely deadly condition that can be found in even very healthy individuals. Our dentists complete an oral cancer screening during all patient exams. We’re looking for areas that appear to be:
Sores that don’t heal
Lesions that are different colors than the tissues around them
Bumps, lumps, or nodules
Should we find any type of abnormal tissues, we will perform a biopsy of the tissues and send them off to a lab for examination. Early diagnosis is key, as it allows for early care that can save your life!
